October 21, 2008:
When we observed the river, we saw moss underneath the water that was green, stones, and sand. Also, we noticed that the water in the river flows in the same direction. There were soda cans that were littering the river (artifical) and sticks and leaves on the water surface (natural). Another observation we noticed was that certain parts of the river had water flowing fast (ripples) when other parts of the river were still and calm. Also there was trees and grass surrounding the river and had a construction site near by.

When we observed the river we saw point sources, which detects higher turbidity. The water was deeper near the point sources.Near the bridge next Central Avenue there were many fish underneath it. Since it rained the previous day, there were water stains on the sides of the concrete. Again, we saw moss and alge growing under the water and on the concrete making the surface slippery. Also there was dark brown sand. It seemed that the more rocks there were in an area of the river the rougher the current was.

When we observed the river on this we noticed that the water level was lower, there were little fish life, less trash, and the water was flowing faster. The water was also still dark and cloudy. The water also had many more pool zones. This was probably caused by the build up of leaves in the water.
